Why Patients in Journal Square Choose Us
All About Our Team of Dentists Near Journal Square
Dr. Vahid, DDS
With a passion for helping others and a deep-rooted family connection to the field, Dr. Vahid is proud to serve patients as a highly skilled and compassionate dentist near Journal Square. Whether he’s easing someone’s toothache, transforming a smile with cosmetic dentistry, or placing dental implants to completely restore function, Dr. Vahid is committed to delivering outstanding dentistry that improves lives.
Dentistry runs in Dr. Vahid’s blood. His mother is an orthodontist, and his father is a pediatric dentist. He began assisting in his father’s office at just 12 years old and quickly realized that he wanted to follow in their footsteps. As he grew, he learned firsthand the importance of patient-centered care, and it’s a philosophy he brings to work every day.
After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Vahid completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at NYU College of Dentistry. He then stayed on at NYU to continue his education with a two-year maxi-course in dental implants and restorative dentistry. These experiences gave him the advanced skills needed to perform complex procedures with precision and confidence.
One of his most rewarding experiences was traveling to the Dominican Republic, where he provided free extractions and implant placements to underserved communities. This outreach reflects Dr. Vahid’s commitment to using his abilities to make a real difference, whether in the Journal Square community or abroad.
To stay at the forefront of the field, Dr. Vahid is an active member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and SPEAR Education.
If you're searching for a friendly, experienced dentist in Journal Square, Dr. Vahid is here to help with care you can trust!

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the best place to receive dental work?
Choosing the best place for dental work requires research. What you want from a dentist near Journal Square and their practice is likely to be different from what someone else wants. This is why you are encouraged to compile a short list of “must-haves” before selecting the right place to improve your oral health.
You might ask yourself:
- “How important is it that the dentist takes my dental insurance?”
- “Does the office need to be close to my home or work?”
- “Will the practice need to provide services to more than just adults?”
- “Should the dentist offer additional payment options?”
- “Do I need general or specialized dental care?”
There are more questions you can ask, but this can give you a good start as you pursue where to go for optimal smile care.
How much does it cost to get a tooth pulled without dental insurance?
Without dental insurance, you may pay between $150 and $400 for a tooth extraction. This can vary based on several factors that we must consider before we can provide a complete cost estimate for your review. Not only does the geographic location of the dentist’s office matter, but also:
- The type of tooth that needs to be extracted and its location inside your mouth
- The type of extraction required: simple or surgical
- Whether you require a tooth replacement
- Whether you need dental sedation in addition to local anesthesia
Although having dental insurance for these procedures can help you save significantly on out-of-pocket costs, there are other payment alternatives, including CareCredit, that our team will be happy to discuss during your appointment.
What if you cannot afford a dentist?
Many patients assume that if they cannot afford to visit the dentist, they should avoid it altogether. Whether pain or problems exist, the thought of being unable to pay for treatment can often keep people away. This, unfortunately, can lead to serious oral health problems that do more damage than you might realize.
This is why our dentist near Journal Square at AV Dental Associates is pleased to partner with CareCredit Financing. Instead of foregoing treatment because you don’t have dental insurance, you can choose to enroll in one of the company’s low- or no-interest payment plans. With no waiting period and an easy application process, you can pay for your treatment over time instead of all at once.
There is also the option to save 5% on all advance payments made before the treatment date.
